Dr. S. Zahir Hussain is a distinguished endocrine and general surgeon with over an 35 years of experience in surgical field, 17 years in general surgery and 18 years in endocrine and Breast surgery. As the Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrine Surgery at Madras Medical College, Chennai, Dr.S.Zahir Hussain has played a pivotal role in advancing the surgical management of endocrine disorders in India.
He has a special interest in thyroid surgery, managing a wide spectrum of thyroid conditions including malignancies (cancer) , goitre (nodule) recurrent goiters, and complex neck dissections. His expertise extends across all domains of endocrine surgery, including parathyroid, adrenal, and neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. S. Zahir Hussain is also extensively trained in laparoscopic adrenalectomy and other minimally invasive endocrine procedures.
Alongside his subspecialty practice, Dr. S. Zahir Hussain has maintained a strong foundation in general surgery, with particular proficiency in hernia repair, including gallbladder surgery, and other common general surgical procedures. This dual expertise enables comprehensive surgical care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
